Solent & Gosport Ice Hockey Club

Forest Way

The club is always on the lookout for new players male or female even those with no skating ability or hockey sense but want to give it a go. The club, managers and coaches are endorsed by the EIHA (English Ice Hockey Association) and all club officials are CRB checked.  The club offers younger players under the age of 15 the chance to learn the sport by means of our Learn to Play Ice Hockey sessions run on Tuesdays (FIRST TASTER SESSION FREE) and it also runs a more family orientated session on Sunday mornings called Stick and Puck. The sport is fast paced and the game allows children to build their confidence, team bonding, fitness and hand eye coordination. At the younger age groups girls and boys play on the same teams all the way up to under sixteen’s where they then split. All equipment is provided for those wanting to learn to play the sport in the Learn to Play Hockey (Stick, Gloves, Helmet and Skates). The club even offer a hire to buy scheme to spread the cost of purchasing their own equipment.

For Adults who wish to join the sport the club have two recreational teams that train on Wednesday’s one for experienced and one for beginners and veterans.

Ice Hockey is the fastest non-motorised sport in the world (i.e. relying on a person’s physical abilities). It is also a known fact that 1 in 4000 children will represent their country at one or more age groups in football whereas in ice hockey it is 1 in 400.
