Gosport's Radio Haslar will be holding its annual Broadcast Marathon over the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend.
The purpose of the marathon is to raise important funds so that the Radio Station can remain on air where it currently provides a dedicated Hospital bedside service run entirely by volunteers to the patients and staff of Gosport War Memorial hospital.
Presenters will be sponsored for playing different types of requested songs and will be broadcasting a range of specialist shows including a Eurovision contest special show playing Eurovision songs from 1970s onwards, A Rock “n” Roll show, sounds Like Jazz special and a show playing music from some of those all time classic blockbuster films.
On Saturday 28th May, Radio Haslar will also be attending the Gosporteers Carnival where presenters will be making public announcements and talking to individuals participating in this year’s carnival as well as broadcasting the latest events from the arena back to the studios. The Mayor of Gosport councillor Chris Carter will open the carnival at 11:00, where the crowning of the carnival Queen and Princesses will take place at 11:15. The carnival procession sets off at 14:15 and returns at 15:00. The day’s events will close at 17:00.
